Part 2: Step-by-step instruction

  1. Install rear main seal
If you have a one-piece main seal that is not already installed, fit the rear main seal mount past the engine stand adaptor and seal and bolt it in place. If you can't get the seal adaptor past the engine stand adaptor, remove the block from of the stand and lower it to the ground. If you don't have an engine hoist, the block and crank are not too heavy for two strong people to lower by hand. Pick up the block AND the stand first to be sure that you can both handle the weight. If you feel comfortable, slide it out and lower it. Keep your back straight up and down and do all the lowering with your knees.
Clean and seal both the block and adaptor. Then seal and stick the gasket in place. Once the adaptor is bolted on, fit the engine stand adaptor to the block and lift it back into the stand. Picking up is harder. Get three or even four helpers if the weight is not comfortable for two people. Again, ONLY lift with your knees.
