Charging system

Summary
The charging system recharges the battery and supplies electrical energy to all the electrical components in the vehicle.

The charging system provides electrical energy for all of the electrical components on the vehicle.

The main parts of the charging system include:

The battery stores an electrical charge and provides the electrical energy for starting.

Then, once the engine is running, the alternator – which is connected to the engine via a drive belt – converts some of the mechanical energy of the engine into electrical energy to supply all the electrical components of the vehicle.

The alternator also charges the battery to replace the energy used to start the engine. The voltage regulator prevents over-charging.
